Significant increase in research output achieved at AUEB during the period 2007-2011. According to the results Research Excellence Exercise which were just publicized: a) the number of publications in high impact academic journals has increased by 50%, and b) the number of positions that AUEB faculty occupy in Editorial Boards of international academic journals has increased by 29%

In the Research Excellence Exercise that was conducted in the Spring 2011, six out of a total of eight AUEB departments responded: the Department of International and European Economics (DEOS), the Department of Business Administration (ODE), the Department of Informatics (DI), the Department of Accounting and Finance (DAF), the Department of Marketing and Communication (DMC), and the Department of Management Science and Technology (DMST). According to the results of the exercise, it can be concluded that AUEB is on an increasing trajectory as far as a number of research excellence indicators.

1. Publications in high-impact journals

According to the results of the Research Excellence Exercise, the number of papers published in high-impact journals has increased by 50%. More specifically, in the period 2004-2007 127 articles of AUEB faculty were published in high-impact journals, whereas in the period 2008-11, the number of publications has increased to 191, signifying an increase of 50%. The specific data per department are given in Table 1 below:

It should be noted that Table 1 includes papers published in a journal that belongs to one or more of the following categories: a) member of the Financial Times list, b) member of the Diamond List of Economics, c) rated as an ABS-4 journal in the Association of Business Schools journal listing, and d) has an Impact Factor of at least of 1.5 (IF>1.5).

2. Positions in Editorial Boards of international academic journals

According to the same survey, there has also been a significant increase of 29% in the number of positions in Editorial Boards of international academic journals that AUEB faculty occupy. More specifically, during the period 2004-2007 a total of 92 positions of international Editorial Boards have been given to AUEB faculty, whereas during the period 2008-11 this number has increase to 119 , thus signifying an increase of 29% αντίστοιχες θέσεις.
