George Baltas is a Professor of marketing at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He holds a BSc in economics, an MBA with distinction, as well as a PhD from the University of Warwick. Prior to joining AUEB he was a lecturer in marketing at Warwick Business School, England. Professor George Baltas is the Director of the MSc in marketing & communication. He is also the Director of the PhD Programme and has served as the Head of the Department of Marketing & Communication.

His research interests include empirical demand research, advanced research methods, marketing models, retailing, consumer behaviour, marketing economics, discrete choice analysis, empirical determination of consumer preferences and taste differences over people, random utility models, brand and product line management and bio-inspired models.

Professor George Baltas has published extensively in international refereed journals including Applied Economics, Decision Sciences, European Journal of Marketing, European Journal of Operational Research, Industrial Marketing Management, International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management, Journal of the Market Research Society, Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Business Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Product and Brand Management, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Retailing & Consumer Services, Journal of the Operational Research Society, Journal of Service Research, Marketing Letters, and Transportation Research, among many others.

His research has received several awards and has been presented in such international conferences as the European Marketing Academy Conference, the American Marketing Association Educators? Conference, and the Academy of Marketing Conference, among many others.

His work has been widely cited in the research literature and leading refereed journals such as the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Retailing, Journal of the Operational Research Society, Mathematical Social Sciences, Psychometrica, and Transportation Research. In addition to numerous journal articles, Professor George Baltas has co-authored four books in the areas of Consumer Behaviour and Retailing.

Professor George Baltas has also reviewed extensively for numerous scholarly journals such as the Decision Sciences, European Journal of Marketing, European Journal of Operational Research, International Marketing Review, International Journal for Research in Marketing, Marketing Science, Journal of Business Research, Journal of the Operational Research Society, Journal of Retailing, and is on the editorial board of the Industrial Marketing Management, the International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management and the Journal of Product and Brand Management.

His research has attracted considerable mass media coverage with several hundred articles, interviews and reports in newspapers, magazines, trade publications, and broadcast media. He is also a frequent speaker and panellist in professional meetings, roundtables, and conferences.
