George D. Stamoulis (gstamoul@aueb.gr) was born in Athens, Greece in 1964. He received the Diploma in Electrical Engineering (1987, with highest honours) from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, and the MS (1988) and PhD (1991) degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. Throughout his studies he received several fellowships and honorary awards. Also, in 1982, as result of the contest of the Greek Mathematical Society, he was selected as one of the four members of the Greek team that competed in the 23rd International Mathematical Olympiade (Budapest, June 1982). From 1995 to 2000 he was an Assistant Professor at the Computer Science Department of the University of Crete, Greece, and a member of the Telecommunications and Networks Division of the Institute of Computer Science, Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (ICS-FORTH). Since 2001 he is a faculty member, currently Professor, in the Department of Informatics of Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB).

His research interests are in network economics and charging for telecommunications services, broadband networks and services, peer-to-peer systems, reputation mechanisms for electronic environments (peer-to-peer, grid, e-commerce), and auction mechanisms for bandwidth in fixed and wireless networks and for electronic resources. He has collaborated in related subjects with the leading telecom companies of Greece, as well as with Greek Regulatory Authorities for Communications and Power. He has also participated in many European projects the consortia of which comprised leading European industrial and academic partners. He has published more than 20 articles in scientific journals (including IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networks, Telecommunications Systems, Computer Communications, IEEE Transactions on Communications, Journal of the ACM, and ΙEEE Transactions on Information Theory) as well as more than 40 articles in scientific conferences (such as INFOCOM, ITC, ACM SIGMETRICS, GLOBECOM and GP2PC).
